SoCal always has quality but rarely has quantity. Six horse field, if no scratches or adds, is disappointing. I'm looking forward to seeing how Honor AP does off the shelf and if Storm the Court will rebound.

Is it a recent trend that the California preps have had such small fields?

The real McCoy . . .

Authentic to win the San Felipe Stakes.

I'm with you on that. He was very green in that win and still won by daylight. He looks like a future star.

San Felipe S.

Fort Mchenry (20-1) - New owners are overly ambitious with this future claimer.

Honor A. P. (4-1) - The value of the race. He displayed plenty of talent as a 2-year-old dusting Tizamagician.

Wrecking Crew (12-1) - What happened in the Los Alamitos Futurity? Pass for now,

Authentic (6/5) - Talented. But who did he beat in the Sham Stakes? The main players in this field are lengths better than Azul Coast.

Thousand Words (9/5) - Does he win by small margins because he's lazy, or because he's not that fast? Today's race will tell.

Storm the Court (5-1) - Disappointing effort in the San Vicente. He couldn't even beat the Cal-bred Fast Enough for third.

Swagsational (50-1) - If he wins, he will defy all rules of handicapping.

Conclusion

Honor A. P. or Authentic

Authentic, as green as he is, is the real real.

I want Honor A. P. moving forward. Now that he has a race under his belt, he will appreciate the added distance.

Currently 12-1 in the Futures pool.

15-1 in Pool 2.

50-1 in Pool 1 off a Del Mar maiden win.

He went faster than you want to be going out of that first turn.

That was a grade 1 performance.

I agree with this sentiment. I was looking for first or second place here.

Baffert horse looked really good but I’ll have to be sold on that pedigree getting 10.
