Then such people must prove their disability along the lines of how those who apply for handicap parking permits must. Chronic sickness or disability are certainly fair reasons for mail-ins.

There's a huge inherent problem with mail-ins: The vast majority of mail-ins don't get counted until AFTER the in-person votes. It doesn't take an Einstein to figure out how that process provides an easy and convenient way for mail-in vote counters to cheat in multiple ways. Once the mail-in vote counters know what the in-person score is, it's all over.
Moreover, in addition to that problem is that mail-ins are no longer secret votes, as in-person votes are.

It depends on how one defines Federal election. The election of representatives and senators could be considered state elections, thus the only Federal election would be for President/Vice-president.

There are ways that mail-in votes could be secret.

Enlighten us. Why are you keeping this a secret?

Come on man.... you know how. All ballots would be void of any identifying information. Each voter fraud kit comes with disposable gloves and a self-sealing envelopes 15 copies incase a mistake is made All with prepaid postage.
There is no other way to do it...

Not only that but ballot handlers would still see the vote before the ballot gets fed into any machine. Whose to say that a disgruntled handler who didn't like how a person voted wouldn't get sloppy and "accidently" lose some in a garbage receptacle?

How is that any different than the ballot you cast in person?
And logistically, how would anyone have time to read a ballot, read the identity, record it......I'd worry more about getting struck by lightning.

I don't know how they conduct in-person voting in precincts in NY State but here in Swampland precinct officials never even handle a filled out ballot let alone see the contents thereof. We do a very racist but common sense thing down here in Swampland: After filling out the ballot, we voters actually remove the ballot from the large outer sleeve, hand the sleeve back to the attendant who is monitoring the tabulator and, then, we feed our own ballots into the tabulator. Our identities were earlier verified before we even received a ballot.

No logistical problem at all. As far as mail-ins are concerned, an attendant is only concerned with the votes. If a person doesn't like the vote for a particular candidate, he or she doesn't have to bother with any of the other details after the ballot gets "lost". Don't forget: Unlike in-person voters, mail-in voters can never know for certain that their votes got cast. They're relying entirely on the integrity of the system -- a system that is often very partisan.
Or another way to cheat is to forge signatures for the chosen candidate of the "system". Read and weep about "what never happens".

Well then you have nothing to worry about.
Just vote in person.
Problem solved.
I am not the least bit worried about mine.

If mail ins aren't secret what should we think of Nye County NV where concerns about integrity lead to paper ballots and hand counting?
