Considering his foundation - 3 at 9 furlongs before the Derby - I have to think all is not well here. 7 days out, I expect to be hearing good things, not doubts. He's off my list.

Comments from the article:
Tax breezed Saturday morning on the Belmont Park main track, with trainer Danny Gargan saying afterwards that a decision will be forthcoming on entering the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets on June 8.
“I just don't want to run unless I love how he's doing,” Gargan told drf.com. “He worked good, but it wasn't awesome. It wasn't like before.”
Not real reassuring from Gargan. Gotta assume he isn't running, and if he does, he would be awfully tough to back on top.

Not familiar with Gargan... is he a straight shooter or could this be a misdirection?

I hope he runs, assuming he is healthy. I think he'd provide good value and has a good shot to hit the board.
Of course I pegged WoW as a loser in the Preakness so don't listen to me.

Tax a go for the Belmont . . .
Trainer says the colt suffered a stone bruise.
" . . . The other day, his work was good but coming back to the barn, he stepped on a rock and got a little stone bruise. So, we've been working on that. (Farrier) Ian McKinlay came by today and glued (his shoes). He's perfectly sound. He only had a problem for a few steps. Fifteen minutes later, he was sound," Gargan said.

Tax was a 'dud' in the Kentucky Derby, but he's a decent price and he belongs in the Belmont.
He should be good to go, and they are going for it.
