Yeah, they had the camera situated so I couldn see how far out he was for a lot of the race. First thing I thought then they hit the wire was, "Weel, they got the final time right!'

Belmont 6th Sunday, birds tripped the 1/2 mile time too early, way early. Trakus is much better.
Turf Paradise, also 6th Sunday, timer trips way too early for the 1/2 for this one too.

Think that would also translate to around .6 Beyer speed figure points?

I asked the field supervisor, who was already aware of the margin question and had reviewed the race. The video angle at Zia is not good for judging margins. The photo shows the eight won by a neck as is in the chart. There was also a dead heat for fourth so if anyone is watching the full replay they will see "official" and "dead heat" on the tote board but the dead heat was for fourth.

I thought I'd seen it all, then Bodexpress's maiden win happened today. You have to watch it to believe it.
The chart just added 1: to the front of the posted mile and finish times, and that is comically bad.

Yeah those mile and finish time are criminal. Almost as bad as the announcer saying welcome back to the winners circle for a horse who's not broke his maiden.

I noticed, but he made a simple mistake, he meant to say "welcome to" or something, he explained on twitter. Not going to beat him up over that.

It appears that Woodbine isn’t posting mile fractions for 1M 70Y races, times are available in the charts though.

Back-up timer was used for Race 1 today at Laurel, per Equibase chart. Erroneous fractions were posted on the feed during the race.

They use GPS as official, so I wonder what method the back up is.

World record in the 1st at Remington. Correct time is in the chart.
I also saw they removed all the sectional times from the Bodexpress race on Monday.

Remington began running races with a 12 foot rail this year. Since there was no new timing eyes put in, the races were listed as about. This makes sense, no problem here. However, they started listing the races with the rail at 18 feet as about also, but they are actually the exact distance as listed as they always have been. These races have their own calibrated timing eyes.
After contacting Equibase about it, they agree and are going to stop using the "about" for races with the rail at 18 feet and will go back and change those this year. It isn't a huge deal, but for those making pars and such it would have been an issue.

Good going!
Why would you add a new rail distance and NOT make sure you're timing them correctly?
Game run by morons.
