Saturday, when it was raining at Saratoga, I walked through the I Love NY tent or whatever they call it and looked at the Del Mar simulcast, sunny and nice. Enjoy Saratoga, except for the races off the turf, but Del Mar is paradise. The first BC there is the best time I've had at a track, too bad it has become so expensive to attend it there.

Doesn't one lead to the other? Horse racing is the game of looking for a easy spot now, nobody wants to race against the best.

nobody is forcing you to bet Saratoga--Agree some races have very small fields but lots of times the fields take a big hit because of the weather when many races are washed off the turf

Nonsense. The fields are small before the rain and vet scratches. Those just make them even smaller. And now the cards are filled with cheap claiming races and those awful 1M chute races which are maybe the most boring thing offered in racing today.
And yes I’m not forced to bet Saratoga but they should want to offer a good betting product? Radical concept right?

I agree that Saratoga is not the same as years passed--However I feel that the quality at Saratoga far exceeds what goes on at Delmar--why do all the big stables-horses-jockeys choose Saratoga over Delmar? I have been betting for over 60 years and can count on 2 hands the amount of times I have bet Delmar==to each is own it's just not my track of choice

Bottom-line....THIS season, Del Mar is a better wager than 'Toga.
Next year it could be reversed....Seen it happen in the past.

I just looked at last Saturday and Sundays racing cards at Delmar and noticed quite a few maiden races and cheap claimers--I don't bet Delmar but was surprised by this--

Del Mar, where the surf meets the turf.
Toag, where the surf covers the turf!

That turned out to be a nice field. I misread an article thinking Cody was the only nominated horse running or the others may have supplemented.
