Starting in April I will post a weekly thread and calculate the totals from week to week. It seems like that would be easier then doing the math daily.

This way I won't be bumping up old threads to the top of the forum.

It's good that you're winning, but I'm curious how many hours you spent handicapping in those three months.

If it's 100 hours a month, then you're hourly rate is less than $1.00 an hour.

Back in the late 80s when I quit playing the horses my hourly rate was 75¢ an hour, which is why I quit. It wasn't worth my time.

If it's just a hobby that pays a few bucks that's cool. But playing the horses is a tough way to make any serious money...especially for the effort extended.

Again, I applaud the fact that you're winning.

This year I have not been buying any DRF's. I use free information.

Nothing spent on handicapping information. Everyone thinks you need a DRF, but if you look closer you don't need one.

Kudos

Maybe a federally mandated minimum wage would solve the problem? I sincerely hope the cynicism came through loud and clear.

Beating even the break even point is a huge task. Kudos squared.

Do you do any scraping to get free data (almost always a PDF) into a spreadsheet or data base? That's something I try to do sometimes. With varied levels of success.

When the old timers tell you that horse racing is a numbers game it definitely is. It took me eight or nine years of studying to figure out some patterns.

You dont need to analyze all that data into spread sheets either. It takes too much time.

I use to do this a few years back and that's actually when I started to get into the studying of free information. You are on the right track, but you will eventually see that you are doing too much work.
