I'm not sure how that's a drive-by. She regularly posts here in off-topic

Until very recently, you were usually just a one and done kind of guy in off-topic threads.

You usually didn't stick around for much if any back and forth.

A quick look at both our post histories will quickly dispel you of this erroneous notion.

really, in off-topic?

I mean, if you want to go all the way back to the religious thread, when it was active...ok...but that was a long time ago

maybe my perception is warped

I am getting older...might be afflicted with early-stage Biden/Trump disease...

I thought you were a lot more observant than that...

If I posted here as "infrequently" as you say...then my "thinly-vailed insults" wouldn't be so noticeable to you.

Didn't I already apologize for this? Or was that something else?

If he meant to stop us from "retaliating"...then he would have told us to simply walk away without "turning the other cheek". If Jesus was into "defending himself against inappropriate injustice"...then he would have gotten off the cross and kicked the Romans' ass. And if Jesus wasn't a "pacifist"...then he wouldn't allow the Roman soldiers to spit in his face.

As I said...stick to your simplistic handicapping methods. The religious discussions are way beyond your level of expertise.
We'll have to agree to disagree, but I think you should probably learn a bit more about rhetoric, hyperbole, metaphor etc... in Bible communication, read the interpretations of actual experts on the passage and what Catholics (in my case) are taught instead of going with you own and other drive-by Christian hating. No Catholic l know was ever taught to be a doormat or to give up all their weapons of defense.

Almost the entire purpose of His being here was to suffer and DIE for our sins.

Why would he get off the cross or tell his Apostles to back off when they came for Him when his destiny was being fulfilled?

I should add, since we are talking about whether it is Christian for people to own guns for defense, what THEY are taught and believe about what Jesus was saying is more important than your own misinterpretations of Bible verses.

IMO, they would be way more likely to give up many of their guns or at a minimum accept stronger regulations if left wing governments at all levels made preventing crime a huge priority, could be trusted not to confiscate guns they feel are necessary for their own protection and could be trusted to not behave in a totalitarian manner. None of that seems likely. So every time those governments misbehave, gun and ammo sales will spike again (as they always do) and we'll continue to have occasional accidents and violent outbursts with them.
