I agree totally. However, what is going on now is not actually "being safe than sorry." It's gone WAY BEYOND that...
You're a doc.
Do you agree with the science that says something like 50,000 to 80,000 PEOPLE DIE FROM THE GOOD OL' FLU EVERY YEAR IN THE USA?!?!?!?!?
I'm sure you do.
So why aren't we quarantining people every year who show flu symptoms? After all, it is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS and it KILLS A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE.
Nobody stops you from getting on an airplane if you have the flu.

He was using simple math. Nothing medical about it.
I remember a few weeks back, hearing the numbers on radio brought me to a similar conclusion as PA. Trusting the numbers is the hard part. If they are close to accurate, PA has made some very good points using basic common sense.

Its hard to get a firm grip on numbers because the Chinese government isn't telling us how many bodies they've scooped up off streets and burned.

It is all a collaboration and plot between the dims and Chinese dictator to tank the world economy so Trump does not get reelected.

Can't find the original story I read last week... But

It's a matter of what we don't know... what is the real reason behind China's Panic?

I wish I could be so cavalier. I’ve got 20 years on you and have respiratory disease.
Here’s a link to just how nasty this virus can be.

It looks like the flu on steroids. Also seems to be highly contagious. I get this **** and I’m done. I’m not obsessing about it but definitely concerned.

I have no doubt this disease would be especially dangerous to somebody with an underlying condition.
The common flu is also far more dangerous to someone with an underlying medical condition as well.
That link wanted me to put in my email address to continue reading...so I didn't get to read it...but it looked interesting from what I could see.

The first few years we shared classes read the same books...There is no differences in basic medical education. One is NEVER a former anything, only retired one as too much blood sweat and tears went into that degree.
Clinical rotations were at SF General, Stanford University Hospital, Kaiser Hospitals, VA Hospitals, GF Strong Rehabilitation Hospital Vancouver, and my resiliency was at a major 1400 medical school associated teaching hospital Vancouver General.
I scrubbed in on all manner surgeries, rotated through many specialties (did my own research on some areas where I thought my clinical experience needed bolstering), worked the ER, the burn unit, radiology, psychiatry, OB Gyn where I assisted on several births and C-sections, orthopedics of course, rehabilitation medicine, worked as a lecturer for the Canadian Diabetic Association, etc etc.
NO differences in basic medical education.
I often laugh at how ignorant the general population is as regard medical education. A psychiatrist studies and participates in cardiac clinical situations, the dermatologist knows obstetrics, the otolaryngologist has experience with EKG's and EEG interpretations, & internists know all about difference dermatological lesions.....WHY? because they all are INTERRELATED in the understanding of the WHOLE person and the clinical signs and symptoms that produce multi-symptom pathologies.
Patients are not educated in understanding that a symptoms isolated to one region of the body can, and most often does, reflect a systemic problem. Without an understanding of odd ball things like Ewing sarcoma or ainhum or sub acute sclerosing encephalitis, Hirshsprung's disease one cannot call themselves DOCTOR
