Why do horses go nuts in GP's stretch?
When it happens once or twice it's an anomaly, but the continuance of horses in Gulfstream's turf races who bolt inside or out when seemingly on their way to victory has got to be a concern. I think back in the day some track (maybe GP?) mentioned horses possibly ducking out when seeing a giant TV screen on the infield when it was either dark or cloudy or twilight was approaching, but there is something else up at GP. What I assume is that due to GP's extremely wide stretch & number of "turf courses" that horses get a little lost out there & maybe those temp rails aren't enough of a guide to keep their mind on business.
Either way more horses at Gulfstream have done this so far this meet than I think I can recall in the last decade in NY & CA combined (feel free to correct me if my memory is lacking on that end though). The last few years had seen a handful of these events as well at GP, but with today's equine fatality & jockey injury, maybe some real attention will be paid to keep this from happening again.

Has this theory been approved by the Stronach family prior to posting?

That guy would be Michael Pizzola!
(a story he once told about Belmont!)
Anyone hear more on the one who bolted over the inner rail today?
Jock taken out on a stretcher?

I'm pretty sure there was a case of someone actually using some sort of sonic device (disguised as binoculars) to spook race horses in the stretch, somewhere in Europe, many moons ago...surprised it doesn't happen more...or maybe it does and nobody knows about it...
Good way to get a favorite out of the money...

Another 3-horse spill in the finale.
All horse up according to TVG.
Not sure on the riders yet.
What's that, two multi horse spills in two days, lus the one going over the rail?

Seriously, Gulf turf course looking like a mine-field, and it's only mid January.
Let's schedule even more turf races for cheap horses to get it looking even better. And keep that Rainbow gimmick going for as long as possible.

Horse Race Fixed By Ultrasonic Gun
November 03, 1989
An ultrasonic gun inaudible to humans was used to scare and distract racehorses in a betting fraud scheme designed to launder drug profits, a London court heard this week.
The gun, hidden in a pair of binoculars, was used to sabotage a showpiece race at Britain`s Royal Ascot course in June, 1988.
Lawyer Jonathan Goldberg showed the court binoculars in which the lenses had been removed and replaced with two high-frequency transmitting devices.
``This device subjects the passing racehorse to a sudden and terrifying noise which no human being can hear at all,`` he said.
Goldberg said the gun was used to rob jockey Greville Starkey of victory when he was three lengths ahead, the court was told.
Starkey said his horse, Ile de Chypre, veered violently to the left and threw him from the saddle as he headed for a comfortable victory.
