I'm not sure. It was one of the Marx brothers, either Harpo or Karl. Hope that helps.

But surely, he took it from somebody else for himself.

Karl Marx was a dope.
Same thing goes for Hegel and Rousseau.

This was all worked out by the Framers of our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
They were there at the time.

And for any Klondike believing in this puke platform of the squaw and especially AOC's 70% bracket scam, I invite you to the Laffer Curve.
Works every time.

A wealth tax will shut up all the billionaires like Warren Buffett who claim the tax code is great for him but hates his secretary. Buffett claims he and his billionaire friends should pay more in taxes because that's only fair. He never mentions that he, plus his billionaire friends, hide and shelter their wealth through tax advantaged and tax exempt trusts and foundations.
No need to link a direct quote but he's said such numerous times over the years. Especially when Obama was president. Buffett is the left's favorite billionaire.
A wealth tax, such taxing as the 325,000+ shares in Class A Berkshire stock, at $303,500 per share(!), and the 1.5 million shares Class B shares at $202.75 per that Buffett owns will obviously generate much more revenue than the paltry tax on the $100,000 income or so claims he makes in salary.
This wealth tax will never happen, of course.

That stock does not pay dividends, so he derives no income from it until he sells it. At that point he would owe taxes on his gains.
By your argument, people that own collectible antiques that increase in value over time should pay taxes on that appreciation, even if they don't sell them.
