Ingrid Mason-say it ain't so

I was able to meet Ms. Mason a few times and she trained a few horses I was involved in. She was always nice and personable, I don't believe she is guilty.

Trainer Ingrid Mason has been suspended for one year and fined $2,500 by stewards at Arlington Park after Nuclear Option, winner of the first race on Aug. 23, tested positive for d-methamphetamine and amphetamine.

Her 2018 statistics aren't an outlier to her previous results. She must not be very good at cheating or she probably isn't!

A year suspension and then a $2,500 fine? The fine is pocket change, why even bother tacking that on?

Since it's Arlington, Noel Hickey will have Doug Mathews take the blame and suspension.

If you think $2500 is pocket change for a horse trainer you've never been or known a horse trainer.

Kind of depends on the horse trainer.

Really?? Coming from someone who plays in minimum $5000 buy-in tourneys, you'd think you'd be less inclined to give an opinion on a fellow racetrack income earner, making much less than yourself....

What the hell does what I play in a tourney have to do with whether a $2500 fines is tough on a trainer?

Don't you have someone else to bother?

Certainly there are a few exceptions. But as you well know CJ. Being a trainer, even with a lot of horses, is a very very tough way to get rich.

The first time I went to the barn was after a horse I owned worked at AP, Ingrid trained him. Its is cool to be at the barn during training hours. Saw Kent D walking a horse out to the track and said hi and horses everywhere walking the shedrow and heading out to the track.

I was standing outside Ms Masons office, trying to not get in the way(or get kicked by a horse), Ms Mason sitting at her desk and a horse walked by and she said that one just had throat surgery. Another walked by and she stated that one was just gelded. I had the typical guy reaction while nonchalantly checking my package. She had a big smile on her face! At least thats how I remember it!

Is that an honorary position or does it come with prize money?

So you have anointed yourself the arbiter, thread Captain, and feel you must tell us all that my statement was the most ridiculous.

That's nice for you. For all of us. Thanks!

And now the racing board gelded her for cheating. If such a thing is possible.
