Joe Takach, continued.

I wanted to comment on my friend Joe and his excellent work in southern California.

Joe is the best in the business when it come to physically handicapping. He's good because he PERSONALLY looks at these horses AT THE TRACK. No viewing tapes, he spends four days (an employee usually covers the Friday night racing) a week at the track and he's there for all races.

What makes this remarkable is that in SoCal we have a bit of a traffic problem Joe lives in south Orange County and he's about an hour from HP and 1.5 hours from Santa Anita. The drive home is always in traffic. Bad traffic. I would not do what he does for any amount of money. With DMR opening he has a "42 days at the beach", literally.

Joe sells a lot of stuff but his latest rendition of the DAILY Southern California Horses to Watch is great. I once saw him report that a horse had diaherra last out. Can you get that from TVG od the DRF? I don't think so.

Someone mentioned that he writes with a lot of bold, italic and underlines. You're right but Joe talks like that, hell, he thinks like that. He's his own man. Beholdin to no man. He will speak his mind at the drop of a hat. One of the "suits" at Hollywood once asked Joe what he would do to improve HP. Joe replied; "you got a match!"

You can find Joe in the paddock at any SoCal racetrack. Look for a guy with a clipboard, binoculars a pony tail and dressed completly in black. You have found "THE MAN".

Joe Takach

I used Joes Southern California reports a about one year few years back, and I echo the original posters view on Joe and his products.
Personally, I used Joe's reports to spot horse who were likely to be favorites in upcoming races, but who Joe had detected with a physical problem. Often times the horse was not injured but was on the downside of his form cycle. For example; I found that when these seemingly strong horses came back from the races with descriptions like "totally exhausted", they almost never carried their form to the next race. Sometime the opposite would occur with a previously reported "dull horse" showing much improvement in the paddock/pre-race warm-up. Knowing what a horse looks like when he's "right" can go a long way to predicting a good or bad performance. I was able to eliminate many favorites whom he reported negitively.
The only reason I don't use the SCHW anymore is I don't live in Cal anymore and don't have time to play as often as I did when I was living there. When I do make it back to Cal and the track, sure as clockwork there is Joe at the paddock doing his thing.
I'd recommend his service to anyone, especially if you are in SoCal and can monitor horses for change.
He also has a lot of backstretch knowledge, which is worlds away from the Grandstand.

I have a friend in California who knows Joe personally. When Joe has a strong opinion he's not afraid to bet a couple thousand on the horse or in special occasions as he says "try to put the car title through the window." His edge is definately his physicality handicapping and he does make his living from betting the horses (now supplemented by his services). He tends to be very opininated and I absolutely love to read his rants on So. Cal horseracing. You can learn a lot from the guy but its very difficult if not impossible to follow his style if you're not at the track everyday. He used to post 3 picks a day (forgot the website) and often showed a profit for the meet. I know his posted picks showed a positive ROI 3 meets in a row. But he doesn't bet all of his posted picks and bets others.

Thumbs up

More than a couple of top claiming trainers subscribe to Joe's
reports in So. Cal.
Hey Joe, if you are reading this post......be sure and wipe the filth
off your shoes from Hollywood Park, before you get into that
little sports car of yours......they won't take any slip on that car, at Del Mar with HP dirt on the floor mats! LOL

Takach's day-old analyses are free at www.trackmaster.com. Go to A+ Reports on left side of screen. Then View Previous Day. Then Hollywood Park. Interesting at times, but a lot of hyperbole.
