If he had not broken so bad, I think he couldve caught Justify

It looked like he might threaten at the top of the stretch, but he struggled to switch leads and that was that.

Meanwhile, he's had problems since that race, having to take a 4-week break following his first post-race workout (costing him a start this weekend). Returned to the work tab last Saturday, but curiously he didn't breeze this morning (nor did stablemate Instilled Regard). Maybe they are simply waiting for tomorrow--although the track was fast this morning--but we certainly don't need these two going on the shelf long-term, the 3yo crop is completely decimated as it is.

I dont think so, he essentially got a fast pace and past the horses that tried to win the race.

I dont think he is ever going to do a thing down the road.

Everything going forward is gravy.

He ran 2nd in the Belmont. That was a great day for all involved with the horse.

I'm not expecting big things moving forward.

However, he's got some semblance of talent, and some stamina, and health-willing he's working in a top US barn full-time now. He's got a lottery ticket to run 3rd in the Classic or something.

If he goes in the Travers, he's not even impossible to hit the board, this current crop isn't certain to throw three big performances in the Travers.

Toast of New York is kind of a vague comparison type of horse to Gronkowski. He wasn't all that great, but in 2014 managed to rebound from a 6th in the Belmont with 2nds in the Pacific Classic and then the Breeders Cup Classic.

Maybe being dosed with lasix the first time in his 3 y.o. life before running that kind of race ****ed him up.

Not sure what calibre of horse he is, I'm just sure Gronk'ski would chase horses until his legs broke off.

Instilled Regard breezed a solid 1/2 mile today, but Gronkowski was a no-show.
