Small field but that was a scintillating performance.

Horse has an incredible turn of foot. I would like to see him with a pace that was legitimate before jumping in with too much accolades but so far he can really accelerate.

if he gets 46 and change sprinting its going to take something special to beat him.

Anyone know why he stopped racing last year before the better 2yo races in the fall?

You asked for a “know” which I most certainly don’t have. But here’s a skeptic’s guess…

California doesn’t perform out-of-competition testing for steroids. A horse not racing won’t be tested until a trainer is ready for them to be tested.

I don't think he's a Derby horse, but imo he ran well yesterday. That was a lot to ask. He was coming off a layoff, stretching out, and chasing a blistering pace. Even though he was off that pace in 3rd, I thought he was still close enough and running hard enough to consider it a less than an ideal spot. Look what happened to the other chasers.

He was injured in the Pat Day but it appears he's close to a return.

I'm still pretty high on this horse as a sprinter (perhaps sprinter/miler). I thought his return off the layoff at a mile was a good effort. Then they started chasing Derby dreams in the SA Derby, but that was probably a reach at 9F against those horses.

If they focus on sprinting I think he can become a major player in the division next year. It's too bad he couldn't get 2 races in before the BC Sprint. It would not shock me if he's that talented.
