I like the here. Switching back to dirt after 4 good races on turf. Was 3rd behind Four Wheel Drive(BC juvenile turf sprint winner) 2 back and been improving with each race. Should be a decent price.

Thanks for the link Michael, action is good.

~

Interesting race w/a nice full field, winner gets a cool 240k, nice chunk.

AS written by Jay, the and the should be tough, but Piece of Work was a 1k purchase. Answer In appears the best of the two, comes in rested up and Cox has him set to fire.

shows good early speed and switches back to dirt w/trainer 24% 1st route. is interesting. Last three were G1, got his ass handed to him, however the Hopeful was run on a sloppy sealed and the surface at Santa Anita . . . I think it may be his turn, gets a fast track @ 5/1.

Shoplifted to steal the Remington.

If Embolden () was a router, the connections wouldn't have stuck to sprint races for his first 5 starts. They would have experimented sooner and tried for the big dirt races for 2-year-olds in the fall.

What is also interesting is that Embolden's dam Silver Heart made 40 starts, and 34 of those starts came in sprint races.

Is The Factor on top enough to offset the sprint influence underneath? Maybe. But the odds are against it.

One interesting “on the other hand” factor (how appropriate!) about 29 of those 34 sprints by the dam - they were 6 1/2 and 7 furlong races at Charles Town, so a lot of 2 turn experience there!

I actually had Embolden in my virtual stable after I bet and lost, when he ran in the Atlantic Beach at Aqu. He made a nice bid after Joel had him running into traffic on the rail. I thought I was going to be able to bet this horse next out but I really question the 8 panels.

The margins are too slim for me to actually bet this race if I'm being honest, but for the sake of having an opinion. I'd likely try to squeeze any value I could with the in exotics going vertical or horizontal. The 20/1 morning line on the also seems fairly high to me.

There's a part of me that would likely just bet the if I got 6/1

should get the perfect setup if cox has him tightened up. The bullet on Dec 3 tells me he is ready to run.

shows some good LP figs with a grind it our run style
should sit a great trip just off the speed and make a good run in the stretch
if the isn’t sent I think this one inherits the lead from his outside post. 2nd to govna morris in the slip and a hard fought victory against a good horse in elusive d’oro second out, could easily hang on for a piece.

I'm probably using most. The 5/2 ML would be a fair price. Beyond him, there are four or five horses that look very similar on paper. If I had to pick one that might outrun the odds then I'd go with ; Zapper, hot jock, sharp work, and won the prep for this.

CheckMark's Picks:

RP Springboard Mile $400k 1 Mile Dirt Post: 9:19pm ET/ 8:19pm Local CT

ROWDY YATES 7/2- 2 for 2 @ RP. Figures one of the contenders in betting.
EMBOLDEN 9/2- 1 for 3 with stakes starts. Rises 300k more to contend.
SHOPLIFTED 5/1- BIG drop from a G1 into this race. Should close late.

Ones to watch:
SOUTHGATE 30/1- Pars for race matches horses figures E1 and E2 in stakes.
ANSWER IN 5/2- Just graduated from the maiden ranks. Watch out late race.
MAXIMILIANO 5/1- Ward is known for being hot with 2YO. Could surprise.

Prime Bets: WP on and
BOX , ,
Exacta Key with

Silver Heart is also a full sister to the sprinter Aspenglow, who also raced at Charles Town a lot. But in the few times they took her to Laurel, they kept her in sprints and she ran second in the 2011 Barbara Fritchie at 7F.

Now, perhaps one mile isn't a gigantic leap from six furlongs, so maybe I'm being too harsh on Embolden. If it was 9F, I definitely would not like him.

At one mile, maybe he works out a trip.

I am using the Answer In with the . Simple exacta key box. They thought enough of the to put him in the first derby futures pool so let's see what he has got to offer.
