You're hopping in mid stream.
Trump and reckless already said other countries should defend their shipping. That we don't need their oil anyway.
So play that tape forward.
I'm just playing the board they made. You CAN'T be isolationist and still want to control shit..
Why are we there in the first place?
To protect international shipping is the answer.
Follow that up with why didn't we?
Dunno but not only that we said we shouldn't... others should.
Okay... so why the **** are we there?
"We're going to break this agreement with you, our allies, and pressure the living shit out of the other country inthe agreement. Then when things get messy ask YOU to help police it."

We're there so Trump can talk tough without being tough.

Ok, one of us is hopping midstream but it isn't me.... I am trying to stay within YOUR topic....
You said we are gonna leave and relinquish the seas to others... Let me see the report of the Lincoln Battle group leaving.... (bet ya can't)....
Then you went on to say how we are giving up the China sea...... (Last I checked, this incident is in the straits off of Iran and no where near the CHINA sea).
You then talked about us being the "Lone" super power, yet you talk about us giving up power. To whom? By us asking other nations to step up and support THEIR interest as well is us giving up power??? Somewhere, suddenly, the Chinese have a battle group like the Lincoln because we asked other nations to step up and help? And now, said Chinese battle group will take over the world and rule the seas??
Slow down and look on the counter. I am sure you've just misplaced your meds... Breathe and relax. You'll find them!!

Yeah, those weak and non relevant sanctions aren't doing anything....
So Dave, here's your shot! You were for all out war too? Then you would turn around and blame Trump for getting us into a war? Serious question....

Trump is a isolationist and really hates and wants to undo anything associated with Obama.
Bolton and Pompeo are neocons that really want to pick a fight with Iran.
The resulting CF is when the top guy follows the advice of the bottom two while lacking the knowledge to know this is where it would end up. Then at the 11th he diverts back to his Chickenhawk isolationist tendencies.
It's why you don't half ass a policy.

That makes a lot of sense.
Until you read it.
He has already shown he will use force when needed - Syria.
His current method of using sanctions is working, so military action would be stupid at this point. We have their coordinate - we can bomb them anytime we want to.

First you have to be honest with yourself, what you want is out of reach.
Iran is a cancer on the earth, no policy with them will work with long lasting effects. You are a kick the can down the road kind of guy who will always appease whack jobs than deal with it, and we all know why.

Suppose we do attack Iran.
How much of an attack is called for - nuke Tehran? Take out their reactors?
Sink their navy?
Then what?
That will not end it.
Iran will escalate.
Ely's plan for actin is not very smart.
Not at this time. Maybe later.
But not now.

As soon as they get a bomb they will light up Israel, that being said Iran is about to be sent into the stone age. And we will have no other option to provide support after initial strikes have taken place. Very little can be done to change how this plays out.

Proportionate responses to attacks on civilian shipping and the downing of our aircraft is out of reach?
Not going down this path over a year ago was out of reach?
