Sadness. And condolences for trainer, Peter Eurton, his staff, his family, and owners on the death of two of their barn's stakes horses yesterday.

Losing Demonica, in the Irish O'Brien at Santa Anita and Kyriaki in the Azeri at Oaklawn. Both mares, 5 years old and 6 years old, weakened and collapsed. The story is at DRF+

.... I didn't watch Santa Anita, but I watched all of Oaklawn. Kyriaki was a beautiful racehorse.

This is a tough, tough sport, gentlemen.

I really hope that is just a terrible coincidence that both died the same way 1600 miles or so apart.

Ogden Phipps was the epitome of what an owner should be. I loved how the whole family bred and campaigned their own horses instead taking out their checkbooks. It took three generations of people and 7 generations of horses to win their first Kentucky Derby. RIP!

Leroidesanimaux, a champ of turf legend. As a 5 year old took down the Atto Mile, The Frank Kilroe Mile and The Fourstardave and second in the BC Mile. Took Eclipse Award as Champion Turf Horse.

Was as game as they come...RIP.

One that really hit me, Magic D'Oro collapsed during the race, died from a heart attack....

One of our local stars here, and a horse I have seen race quite a few times live. Hits me harder cause of that.

That sucks. He was a neat horse. Remember him running pretty well in some good dirt sprints and then in one of the marathon turf stakes, either the Hasta La Vista or the Wildcat a year or two ago.

Seeking The Gold - 31yrs old

Met him at Claiborne about 10-11yrs ago. Tour guide said to keep your distance as he would get a piece of you if you got too close. In a paddock adjacent to Pulpit and Monarchos.
Excellent sire, stud fee reached around $125,000 I believe

RIP big fella

31 years? Wow, has it been that long? Very good horse, apparently had a nice long life.

I bet him in the Classic vs Alysheba, ran very well, really good horse. Also saw him in the Haskell in person.
