I am skeptical about the intent of this article...there seems to be a lot of skewed information within.

In the midst of a "suggestion" by Bezos' CEO, a Demo running for office chimes in with a despicable, IMO, and inaccurate accusation:

"Runaway capitalism [] is when Whole Foods suggests employees trade vacation time to address coronavirus rather than offer paid leave [], all while the CEO rakes in ~$15 million a year in stocks, benefits, and more," Trish Zornio, a Democrat running for the U.S. Senate in Colorado this year.

Look further, and you'll get a clearer understanding of the Whole Foods employee policy, regarding this issue:

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey sent out an email to grocery store employees with a list of benefits and options for those who fall sick during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among his six suggestions was an option for employees to “donate” their paid time off (PTO) to coworkers facing medical emergencies.

After this article was published, an Amazon spokesperson reached out with the following statement: “This is a longstanding Whole Foods Market program from prior to the acquisition. Amazon is matching all funds to the Whole Foods Fund since the acquisition to support the team needs during this unprecedented event, and all Whole Foods team members have access to the 2-weeks paid time off related to coronavirus that was announced for all Amazon employees.”

Beware...Socialism, however subtly implied, thy name is Democrat.

I have an option to opt out of my franchise over the next ten days (just happen to be renewal time) so I am going to be looking at things hard.

I think my wife is going to want to stick it out though. I don’t think I’ll go bankrupt (depends how long this lasts) but I’ll be clawing my way through......business wise.

The testing is a resource-costing process, and if we tested everyone, the high number of cases would cause even more panic, and it's all a mess...


It would be nice at this point, if someone presented with fever and severe cough/pneumonia, to simply begin treating with the antivirals and other meds that have shown some symptom control (provided the patient is not strongly counterindicated).

The goal should be shifting from 'getting tested' to treating earlier stages, and keeping people from having to lie face-down on a bed while a ventilator pumps in oxygen.

Treat early. Get a test done if possible.

I don't know what's actually going on, but if they are attempting to only treat severe cases, it may have room for improvement.
