Not to be

Holy Bull (gr. III) winner Algorithms, who missed the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth (gr. II) last weekend, is off of the Kentucky Derby trail after X-rays confirmed a fractured splint bone in his right front leg, according to a Feb. 28 press release.

Is this really a surprise? Does anyone break down more horses than this guy, even percentage wise?

I had Algorithms right there with the top horses.

Maybe he was so pumped up that he out-ran his physical limits? Maybe it was just bad luck.
These are fragile animals.

The horse is a half-brother to Keyed Entry, who I believe ran last in the Derby. Jack Wolf also owned that horse, and I heard him say on a radio show last year that it was "stupidity" to run him when he knew he was not a 10F horse. Not sure if Algorithms was in that mold, but his sibling's performance didn't bode well for him. Maybe being by Bernardini will help.

To be fair , Pletcher has a very large stable and sends out alot of high caliber horses while under the microscope by the press.
I don't find it a problem getting information on his horses. Once his barn knows it's usually disclosed. There are many breakdowns , illnesses and injuries out there that are kept very private until leaked by an insider , or
never mentioned.

Theskysthelimit just broke down this weekend and is being cautiously watched after surgery , but it's not something many here would inquire
about since he's not on the TC trail and not Todd's. . Asmussen's barn is finally getting the message and letting out news but most barns coast to coast don't.

Al Gor will be out of training but he will get the best of care.

So you're saying when an owner spends millions on a horse and Pletcher can't get the horse to win, it's all on Pletcher, and not that fact that the owner probably overpaid for a nag?
