"THIS GUY" needs you desperately to be his mouthpiece at his trial. Just be sure to pack your briefcase with plenty of mug shots of Nancy. That should be enough to convince any judge that Paul had a legit excuse. Automatic dismissal practically guaranteed on the basis of extenuatin' circumstances.
