Scorn from above, help from the ground

One can feel having Billy Turner and the Mig helping guide the way would be a good thing.

I was wondering if there was a chance we'd see a third O'Neill thread today (?).

The horse and his trainer are going for the Triple Crown, this is the Triple Crown folder which most people are reading daily. I was hoping the threads and the posts were appreciated.

Still, I can fix this for ya.

Instead of wondering, try some of your own searching and post something which you may be interested in reading. I'll be glad to bow out.

Thanks for posting this. And I am writing this only to let you know that yes, your threads are appreciated in being another source of news. Of course, if there was a "Like" button, i would've just hit that.. instead of typing ..

I am getting this big urge to just show up at NY on June 8th or 9th..hmm.

After reading that article, (have to add my 1 cent) I am getting the feeling that Ms. Penny C does nt have a handle on the sport as it is today. i mean, are nt there only two trainers who dont have any infractions against them.. Clemente and Motion?
Every other trainer (incl Bill Mott) has infractions/violations whatever you call it.

O'Neill's in the hotbox now: he can't avoid questions about his past infractions and he really can't kept his eyes off the task at hand. With all due respect to Mrs. Chenery, her horse ran in a different era, and we all know I'll Have Another's metabolic waste materials are being looked at with 21st century scrutiny.

His getting the horse and rider experience and help on the next race seems like plain old common sense.

(btw, I don't mean to infer that Secretariat needed special oats..........)

Very interesting link Grits.
I'm a little surprised at Chenery's tone .Certainly not what the sport needs right now .
I don't recall her commenting on BB's connection or anyone else. Maybe I missed it.

I guess if I was the reporter and she wasn't 90 . I would probably ask her why no one from their barn showed up for Eddie Sweat's funeral. I know, it
has nothing to do with this thread . But many wondered about that , few
made any deal about it.

I suggest Ms. Chenery listen to Tim Conway Jr.'s radio program from Monday night (in which Tim interviewed Jimmy the Hat, Roger Stein, and Jerry Jamgotchian about O'Neill and the CHRB) before she opines further about O'Neill.

Ms. Chenery's trainer was no saint either;

http://www.nytimes.com/2000/06/27/sp...l?pagewanted=2

"Laurin broke into racing as a jockey, winning 161 races in Canada, including the 1935 King's Plate aboard Sir Michael. He achieved moderate success as a jockey in New England, but then his career almost came to an end. He was banned for life in 1938 when stewards at Narragansett Park in Rhode Island found a buzzer -- a device that can spur a horse with an electric shock -- in Laurin's jacket before the start of a racing card."

I'm sorry for the droning . . . more print on O'Neill. Still, conversation with Billy Turner, Slew's trainer is interesting stuff.

http://www.drf.com/news/belmont-stak...-slews-trainer

Quote:
“Both are beautiful movers,” Turner said. “As far as their attitudes and so forth, Slew was a bear of a horse. This horse seems to do what you ask him to do and he likes to do it, and that’s just the kind of horse you like to train. Slew was a lot of work.”
Edit to add quote.
