2010 Software/Services Usage
With a new year passing, I thought it would be a good time to see what the members of Pace Advantage as their primary handicapping tool?

Lately I've gone back to using the Mickey Rooney's Probability Approach.
For fields of 6 horses or less, I roll one die. Play the face number.
For fields of 12 horses or less, I roll two die. Add the face numbers to determine play one, individual face dies for other horses. Toss coin. Heads number 13, tails 14, and 15 thru 16 is an automatic toss.
I learned the basic system many years ago from Mickey. I have made minor improvements over the years.

I think that would qualify as homegrown.

EXDC/Thoromation fed by AOdds Gold but I may be shifting over to Handifast and betting off the default fair odds line the more I test it.

Homegrown fits the best but would prefer Excel to be a choice, the poll is very young?

Great thread Jim. I'm looking forward to the results. I think this thread will have meaningful shelf life.

Hi Fast,
If you have developed or had someone develop something for yourself in excel, that would qualify in this poll as homegrown. Thanks.

Thank you. I look forward to the results as well. I will guess "homegrown" will ultimately be the most popular with this group, but we'll see.

I appreciate you responding. I did not include the RPM sold software. Guess I am not totally unbiased where RPM is concerned.

I use Ray Taulbot's electronic Pace Calculator tweaked my way for my initial lot of contenders, and as of it's inception feeding them int Handifast with very good results... with a little common sense.
