Shadwell Turf Mile

Courageous Cat could take this on a good day, but the layoff is making me question him.

This is by far the most interesting race of the day. Courageous Cat's workouts are slow and uninspiring and he loses the services of Gomez to Enriched. Maybe he bled in Dubai? Then again, Bill Mott didn't make the Hall of Fame by accident. Should be a very exciting final furlong.

Courageous Cat

He would be my upset choice but I don't think I will play this race for lack of value. Really upset my BC Mile plans last year as I reluctantly had to leave him out of the place slot....very nice race.
Yeah, the Dubai layoff is a concern, and they may just be getting some conditioning for another BC Mile try...he probably needs it. Price will not be right in this short field.....won't get above 7-2 imo.

Yes, I do agree Mott may be using this to get him fully cranked for the BC. However, if you're looking for value, Get Stormy should be in the 3-1/9-2 range. Tom Bush may not be as well know in Kentucky circles as Bill Mott, plus with the exception of Woodbine, he seems to win on any track and any course.

A good ride by Gomez should put Enriched in the mix.

i liked courageous cat last year in bc mile, but i have my doubts about him this year. its gonna depend on the track condition, and some other things. gio in the mile? that would be an interesting development.

As far as a horse winning by only one length, this was a laugher. Watching the race, for a moment I thought Ramon had given up on him. Barely asked him for any real run through the lane. Love the chart callers comment: " Gio Ponti lollygagged along the opening five furlongs."
