One more company, NYRA, promoting gender inequality with their G1 stakes schedule giving female horses $250,000 less in purse money compared to the males. According to NYRA females are worth $250,000 less. This is ridiculous. Go ahead little guy drink some more kool aide and give us your thoughts.

I mean, to be fair, male horses ARE worth more than female horses. A dam can produce one foal per year but a good stallion could mean millions. I don't see any reason to read into it as some big gender inequality statement...it is what it is.

Females should be able to enter all the races, I believe. They can with the TC races.

i don't think that NYRA is wrong on this one. i always thought it was unfair for a filly to get spotted weight in any race, especially the ones that are age restricted.

We have fielded complaints at mountaineer about certain races and conditions being written only for males. We do this only when we can't FILL a similar spot for females. Practicality prevails.

Interestingly, but not necessarily related to this thread, the whiners phrase their complaints as if THE FILLIES THEMSELVES POSSESS HUMAN-LIKE RIGHTS. Unfathomable. Just unfathomable.

Not only is it income inequality. Listen to all of the sexist talk about the ladies. Talking about how pretty they are. And ultimately they just get relegated to baby makers. Some of them actually work while pregnant. And what about lack of child care keeping them from going back to work? The deadbeat dads are obviously no help.

It's an outrage. How do we get this movement started?

The female only races are restricted, the male events are not.

The oaks only allows females

The derby takes all comers (if you have enough points of course)

Rachel Alexandra took on fillies only in the oaks

Then she took on all comers in the Preakness.

I was hoping bellafina was going to run in the derby.

I still hold out a faint hope.

Using ALL CAPS? You must think this is a real problem. I’m sure it would go away if the industry didn’t assign such cute names to the animals. Instead of Zenyatta, Flower Alley and Stellar Wind; keep the same names their entire lives: KEE2009HIP101, SAR2014HIP034, & OCA2011HIP218, etc.
