Where is Complexity?

Chad Brown, Eclipse Award Winner for Outstanding Trainer three years running, no doubt has this horse workin' under the radar somewheres . . . I've been searching, but I haven't seen him surface on the work tab. He has to come up at some point, as time is runnin' short.

On the Champagne Stakes winner, the trainer and jockey provided a few comments. “His pedigree may not limit him how far he can go,” Brown said. “He’s just a rare horse, exceptional horse.” “Everybody said he’s bred to be a sprinter, he proved everybody wrong,” said Ortiz, who won four races on Saturday’s card. “He could go a mile, he did it in good fashion . . . I think he can do the mile and a sixteenth, but that will probably be as far as he wants to go.”

His Pedigree

Could be thinking of about another horse but didn't he race after that and lay an egg?

Tanked the Breeders Cup Juvenile. Maybe he's fragile. He's by a one and done sire and out of an unraced mare.

Complexity struck me as a precocious horse, but hope to see him back racing and healthy. Also interested in the other KS stables BCJuv horse (Standard Deviation or do I have them mixed up? One of those mental model names that KS picks...). He actually has some works since the BCJuv, and I remember comparing him physically to Complexity who had a lot more muscle. I'd like to see if he put on some weight.

King for a Day is another who has dropped off the map. Todd Pletcher, ran a somewhat under-the-radar solid race vs. grain in the KYJC and 'poof'...

I remember reading he had a minor issue out of the BC and would be pointed to sprint Stakes later in the year ( presumably the Woody Stephens and Allen Jerkens ). I don't know his timetable but I think he's expected back sometime reasonably soon.

I saw a recent workout between Network Effect and Standard Deviation and assume they are both getting ready to start their 3YO campaigns. Network Effect is of particular interest to me. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a major Derby player.

Thanks for the info on Complexity, I wish him well.

I took a quick look at Network Effect and Standard Deviation, saw they worked in company a couple of times down there in Florida . . . looks like Chad is gearin' em' up. I'm gonna be giving these two a closer look.

nw1x

wow 3/5 early on the Global Campaign...

I thought the public might overbet Brown here, but they went the other way...

I always root for local Sagamore Farm, but not today. If the odds stay in this pattern I will simply use the 4 others.

Standard Deviation is very possibly the best horse in here and still has a shot to make a big 3yo stakes.

If I wanted to quibble(about the stakes future thingy), after watching him work with Network Effect, I'd ask a physicality guy whether SD is a 'climber', or whether that pair just has a contrasting way of going up front. Either way that would have NOTHING to do with today, as a thing like that is something a horse is basically born with, and not a race-to-race adjustment.

in addition to the , have a LRL Park soft-spot for the . Any time a horse wins at all going that 1m, 2nd-finish-line configuration I always overrate him lol... I just like to see the typical long drive. At least draws inside, but Jerkens tends to be both over-bet and patient, and the same speed bias that could potentially hurt the is also there for the without the known ability level that the has....

All i bet so far was a cold double from Brown in the 9th to the Blue Steel. I wouldn't be surprised if he's just as quick as the AND better overall. The has that great line-through race in the KYJC and then was comically klutzy in the comeback.

Got a good trip but looked decent enough. Missed half the race and saved $ on a shut-out super trying to key 3rd due to my phone and answering machine's relentless effort. Have to re-watch later. Maybe the is a player? Seems on track for one of these stakes Fl Derby?
