Allowed to say that?
The culture has been completely given over to the objectification of women.
For some of us the confusion is exemplified by the sprinkling of commercials extolling the capacity for feminine achievement and equality, juxtaposed against the halftime examples inviting the aforementioned objectification.

I'm no fan of either, but was one of the most enjoyable halftime shows I can remember. Many I couldn't watch, Beyonce comes to mind...who by the way along with her garbage companion, sat during the anthem.
Shakira at 42 performed more like 22. Amazing talent.

A guy on Twitter addressed that. "When they (women) do it it's "empowering." When men watch it it's "sexist."

A little over the top crotch-grabbery for my liking.

"It was a voyeuristic approach that was less about admiration and more about objectification."
BTW, who was that big, overweight black guy dressed in a big white suit? Hey, we women like to watch sexy stuff, too...he didn't exactly fit the bill; none of it did. No equality, from my point of view.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. That's why I was asking if I was still allowed to say something like that.
Obviously, JLo sees no issues dressing the way she did for that performance, so I doubt she would have any problem with me appreciating her wardrobe choices.
I enjoyed her dancing as well...she's a talented dancer.
I don't believe I am objectifying her. She's an entertainer. Her look is as much a part of her act as is her dancing and her singing.

A highly-political friend of mine on Facebook made quite the astute post:
Quote:
So we make a huge deal about the problems of human trafficking with the Super Bowl as a platform then have a halftime show celebrating sexualization and bondage. You can’t make this stuff up.
|
Was there anything "wrong" with the half-time show?
Probably not by today's standards.
But in light of "today's social justice" position, I think his point is valid.

That’s funny. A fat, old man criticizing J. Lo’s looks. Before anyone gets all bent out of shape, I really have no idea if Run for the Roses is fat or old. I am fat and old, but at least I did not criticize Jennifer Lopez. She’s good looking right now.
Let’s do a quick survey here.
You’re the Sultan of a mythical Kingdom and you can choose three famous women for your harem. Who do you choose. I will post my choices if I get some responses.

Good choices. I should have added, consider them as they are today, not necessarily at their prime
