30 points should get him a gate. Very fast race on the raw clock. More tote tinkering this race too. Cutting Humor was 7-1 in parade then gets hammered down to 2-1. I should pretend the board doesn't even exist.

Baffert needs to put Mike Smith back on his main 3-year old derby prospects.

For perspective, in 2017 Hence won the Sunland Derby in 1:48.10. Last year, Runaway Ghost won it in 1:49.20.

I think Baffert just came up short this year. Imagine that.

A lot of fast races there this afternoon. Money allowance horses shaved 1:08 for 6f, a pair of 6.5f races went just shy of a second off the track record, the Manitoba wonder mare shattered the mile track record, and an 8yo New Mexican bred stalwart was 3/5s off the mile-and-seventy yards mark.

I'd say the winner was the real bet down horse, especially late.

Yep. Same happened last year with Runaway Ghost. In hindsight, Cutting Humor was a good play too. His Gulfstream allowance figure was just as good as what the California pair had then you add JV who wasn't there sightseeing.
