Jersey Joe moving to Arkansas

Jockey Joe Bravo, currently based at Fair Grounds, will move his tack to Oaklawn Park, agent Tony King tells the Daily Racing Form.

Bravo, who has 5,331 all-time victories, has only had a few mounts at Oaklawn Park during his career. His top Oaklawn win came in 2014 with Danza in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby.

King told DRF Bravo is scheduled to ride True Timber in Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park Jan. 26. True Timber most recently finished second in the Cigar Mile.

On the reason for Bravo's move to Oaklawn Park, King said: “The purses, and opportunity to hopefully ride live horses for several different people.”

I think he has been riding first call for Stidham who has some good ones down at the FG. Bravo is a good turf rider surprised he is going to Oaklawn

I am really looking forward to this season at OP. The purses and the stock competing this year should lead to some nice opportunities at the windows. Also looking forward to a meet extended.

I miss the Mlk weekend opening but there's lesa chance of freezing weather with the later start. Last year they had so much rain . Hopefully the weather will be better this year. Competing with Keeneland and the opening of Churchill may hurt but we'll have to wait and see.

apparently Jose Valdivia is also

Agent Jay Fedor will represent perennial Arlington International Racecourse riding champion Jose Valdivia Jr. at the 2019 Oaklawn Park meeting that begins Jan. 25.

Valdivia, 43, hasn't ridden regularly in Hot Springs since 1997 when he won 18 races, including the $50,000 Hot Springs Stakes aboard Virtuous Regent for trainer Randy Morse. Valdivia rode regularly that year for the late Bob Holthus, Oaklawn's all-time leading trainer.
