Of course. But I assume most here aren't needing ram access to 25 gig of raw data.

Why does it have to be 25 gig....works just as well with smaller databases. Running reports on a couple years worth of data or 15 years runs much faster in memory.

I dare this dumb machine to fail me.

That's my secret.

Meanwhile, I just keep on adjusting the rabbit ears.

Believe it or not it’s still sitting in the box unopened. I had a rough week. Some health problems returned, I had to have some very minor surgery related to my thyroid etc and one of my cats died.

She was 17 yrs old and the senior member of our household. It was a hard week. It was also a payroll week for our business which means I’m tied up with payroll as a priority for two days. Maybe tomorrow I can get some time to unbox the beast.

What is their website? I’m interested. Thanks.

For the last 2 years I've been buying refurbs and have just been thrilled with them.

I buy them from a local computer store. They find me whatever I ask for. Personally, I like Win7 the best. My typical configurations is:
  • I7 processor (4 cores)
  • Win7-64 Pro
  • 8GB RAM
  • 500GB SSD
  • Dual monitor video cards
  • 4 USB3 ports

Without monitors, keyboard, mouse, my cost is always under $500. (Actually the precise machine I mention above, which was purchased 6 months ago, was $447.)

These are always name brands like Dell, HP, Compaq.

Do not try to buy one directly from Dell, HP, etc. Find someone local who will give you fair pricing and keep going to them.

My guys have gotten so good at this stuff that I've actually had some HSH users buy through them.

FWIW.

Here is there website.

I cannot promise that you will get the same pricing that I do, because I purchase so many computers from them. Call them, ask for "Tim" and tell them I referred you.

Very sorry to hear about your cat and your health issues. Especially your cat since you say your health issue is very minor, which is good to hear.

I have two machines, an old Dell desktop (XP) and a Toshiba laptop (Windows 7). Firefox does OK on the Windows 7 machine, but it seems to bog down somewhat with the old XP model. What do you find is a good browser for XP?

Thanks.

Google Chrome worked best for me on the old desktop running XP. Firefox is my go-to with the new laptop (W10).

rispa,
The version of FireFox that you may use with XP is dependent upon which SP version you have (you likely have Ver 3).
I've SP2 (requirement for my scanner OCR software) and Firefox 43 is the latest full version you may install, however after installing 43 you may upgrade to ver 47.
I've been using 47 for some while, however recently some websites give and update browser notification. There's a trick to to change the UA to ver 59 and it works fine.

You'll have to check and see what version of FF you may use with SP3.
