NBA Basketball is now basically just 3 pt. shooting contest.

NFL football the rules now obviously favor offense and they may as well put a dress on the quarterbacks.

Rereading the above, I sound like a bitter old man. I guess I am.

So true. Baseball and basketball were so great to watch when there was actual strategizing going on. Now it's HR contest and 3 point contest year round.

Unfortunately for viewers, analytics have borne out that this is basically the optimal way to play those games.

Football is more salvageable. Rules are too tilted towards the offense, but it's not as much a fundamental shift in how people play. But football's not in a great place. Too many games are just whoever gets the ball last wins, because offenses can't be stopped.
