Who the hell put him up to that? I have a feeling that was nothing but a stunt to prove he is fit, looks like it failed. Looks like he forgot to put his foot down when he decelerated to stall speed. That is elder abuse, pretty sure the bike ride wasn't his idea, and if it was someone should have said no. There are plenty of 80 year olds that are mentally sharp and doing well physically, he definitely is not one of them.

Maybe it came off??? If you look at the video PA posted and freeze it at the 17 second mark it does look like the end of his right shoe is in a toe cage.
That is still no excuse, probably due to too much stimulation for his senile brain with people yelling at him he forgot about having his foot in a toe cage.

Now that I look at it again, that bike in the pic you posted isn't Joe's bike...Joe's bike didn't have that pack in the back, behind the seat.

My money is he flat out forgot to pull his foot back to get it out of the toe cage and moved his foot to the right like the toe cage did not exist. Like when an elderly person hits the gas instead of the brake.
