Yes, it is done here. I personallly use to lead them into the pool and I would walk around the outside of the pool while leading them with the shank while they swam at Benton training center in Benton, Louisiana. If a horse has leg problems, it helps keep the horse fit while taking the weight off.

Sunnys Halo swam a lot in California between his 2 and 3 year old campaign before he shipped to Oaklawn.
