The "new" bridge over the Colorado River below the dam is spectacular if you're not afraid of heights. It's 900 feet above the river and a couple of hundred feet above the dam. Drive south towards the dam on 93/I-515/I-11 and get off at the dam exit. Turn right into the parking lot for the bridge. You can walk across it to Arizona and look down to the river. Sometimes, desert bighorn sheep are along the walls.

Red Rock canyon as well as the casino was real cool. The Wynn sports book always was fit into a trip.

More than you asked for, so will end it by saying driving around the area you will learn what to avoid (roads) and how they drive can be a challenge.

I went to the Paris soon after it opened. I was walking through the race book, paused to watch a race (I don't give a shit who is running. I'll always stop to watch a race), and two guys in suits came up to me. It looked like a hit, but it was two people from the Paris offering me scads of perks for joining the horse racing betting club (I don't actually remember the name of the club). I had to be honest with them and tell them I don't come to Vegas that often, and when I do it's usually for business. Still, they wanted me to join. So I did. Never played there again.

My brother and the degenerates he hung out with used to play at the Imperial Palace. Hey, if the totes work and they are reasonable about comps, why not?

i had a friend of mine putting in bets for me 30 years ago at the Imperial Plaza. we had $200 to win on a first time starter at Pimlico and the IP wouldn't pay the winning ticket claiming that we fixed the race. it took us 5 months to collect and had to go in front of the gambling commission to eventually get paid. it was only a $15 horse.

I could not recommend the IP for anything because it is a dump if it is still there. But next to it was a real cool car museum.

The IP was torn down and is now the Linq, has the big ferris Wheel in the back. I liked the old IP race and sportsbook. Had the tiered seating. Was pari-mutuel when I was there.

I remember there was a rumour that the IP was in the shape of a swatstika. The owner was also alleged to have parties on April 20th for a certain fuhrer.
