If any of the people who decided against NY having the BC this year lose their jobs , they an always apply for jobs as weathermen. Genius call by them to know a year in advance a massive storm was going to hit Breeders Cup week of 2012.

Maybe this is why you lean to good weather locales if you are in doubt.

What are you talking about? Friday and Saturday are going to be in the mid to upper 50s with 0% chance of precipitation.

Assuming Belmont Park isn't blown away, it would have been a fabulous weekend.

Planes taking horses to Cali were able to get off the ground as late as Sunday, so assuming none of the horses were planning to ship in at the last minute on Monday or Tuesday, everything would have gone fairly smoothly...

Workouts would have been disrupted today and tomorrow, but other than that...

We're not even going to get all that much rain from this storm. Two inches is pretty much the top number being talked about...the rain is all basically to the south of Belmont....as of right now, Belmont has received about a tenth to three-tenths of an inch of rain from this storm, according to NOAA radar storm total data.

The BC would have already be completed.

That argument doesn't wash. On TWO occasions the weather at CD was terrible on BC day....Both rainy cold days.
No, you'll be hard pressed to convince everyone that the BC has excluded certain jurisdictions from it's rotation.

Hurricanes in NY area are still an extremely rare occurrence. Cold days, rainy days yes.. but that can happen in CD too. It is just a coincidence that this year it seems the BC was spared of a hurricane scare..but your tells a lot about what you meant though!

At any rate, this is why its better to have outdoor events in warmer weather locales. Why have a BC in a cold and rainy day when you can have it in warm weather? I was in NY for the BC the day Go For Wand had her ill fated race and i'm STILL trying to thaw out from that day.

California could have a massive earthquake at any moment. If it does happen, I hope they don't apply for jobs as a seismologist.

Yeah I was there as well. I didn't think it was that bad. I dressed for the temps.
We sat on the second level which meant there was no help from the sun.
Still felt comfy with the extra layer.
Cold is not an issue. It is the precip.
Yes rain does kid of suck for the fans, but off tracks have always been a part of the sport. So why should the BC be any different?
DO the Euros move their best events around to avoid the potential for poor weather? Hell no..BC should not either.

There is really no comparison between the frequency of track-altering earthquakes and the frequency of wet rainy days in NY in November.
