Winter Tracks
In the past my winter racing focused on SoCal but for this winter I would like to take a crack at Tampa Bay and Delta Downs.
I played a bit at Delta last winter and really enjoyed it because of track announcer Don Stevens -- so, I'm going to stay with them but get focused this time around.
I have no experience with Tampa Bay, so I'm just taking a shot here.
I'm open to any pros and cons to taking on these two tracks and welcome any input on things to look for, etc.
If someone is able to supply any of the following reports it would be greatly appreciated:
* Last Track started at by all entries
* Last Track started at by Winners
* Trainer Angle Reports
* Jockey Angle Reports
* Anything else that may be useful
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Trotter

this may be true of most tracks but tampa has had more than its fair share of doping issues....Have you looked ay aqueduct as a possible track to play...usually you can earn good profits betting the earl speed on the inside...although last year track was playing fairer than in other years.I liked gulfstream better than tampa...a lot of trainers winter their from ny..kentucky and chicago circuits.

I moved to Tampa in 2001 and quickly became enamored with the track. Safe surface, almost always a fast track and formful racing. The last couple of years its been different. With trainers like kirk Zaidie, who just got banned from Calder, the racing has left many of us just shaking our heads. It will be interesting if Tampa lets Zaidie in this year. I hope not. With the limited Dec dates, the meet doesn't take shape until mid to late Jan. My schedule will allow me to be on track more this year than ever before. I plan on making Tampa my #1 track this winter. But I'll drop it in a NY second if Zaidie and others, hes not the only one, are back and erratic form races are prevalent.
I have no experience with Delta. I like Gulfstream. Its the NY circuit of the south. Classiest east coast horses and the best barns. With their relatively low pik 4 takeout, I will be active there.

gulfstream is my favorite meet of all. the one thing i get good plays from is improving horses. i've always just had a knack of knowing when a horse is improving, and its not always from a steady improving speed figures. theres other ways of knowing when a horse is a better horse than maybe even one race ago. three year olds at gulfstream offers the most plays of this nature than all the other tracks combined. you will find the more picks you see from da bisket; the more you'll see him with some coin on an improving horse. with a good hit rate. lots of times i finance my entire year of betting just by playing gulstream. this year i've been fortunate enough to continue to get good plays throughout the year.

Being from Cincinnati and hating winter meets in northen state weather and erratic form I expanded my horizons last season and bet Tampa Bay Downs.I did OK without being able to crush them and I looked forward to betting against Ziadie and Ness.But there were many races that just didn't make sense at all.Still,win betting I was finding a fair amount of big prices.My best a wire to wire job at 39-1.
It was frustrating overall but I'm not giving it up after just 1 season.And I'm going to follow Fair Grounds too.Started last season and slacked off when the equine herpes epidemic hit.
It's still a feeling out process for me but I'm zeroing in on Fair Grounds,Tampa,and Gulfstream.Hope we can both share some insights this winter.

I liked Tampa for a while but as others have said things seem to have changed in the last couple of meets. All of Ziade's positives didn't help. I don't have the link in front of me but I'm sure you can google it but they have also had handle issues because of a close by Seminole Indian Casino. There are complicated legal issues that are sending a lot of horse players who also play cards to the casino rather than the track. I'm not implying that it changes the racing but it is affecting the pools.

If you can access energy based pace readouts the 7f distance at Tampa often has the winner using high energy % at the 2nd call.
Higher than tracks such as Belmont,Churchill etc.
Woodbine is another where the 7f poly distance often has high energy % at 2nd call for winners.
Best of luck/skill

Morning "Cincy"
Funny you should post this as Ted C and Bill V at Pace and Cap site should be announcing this week the opening of the new and greatly expanded Library. It's complete and awesome.
There is so much "new" stuff including audios, seminars, videos etc.
Huge thanks in order for Lou Sosa, Tom Molloy and others for contributing and then digitizing vast bodies of work from Pirco and the Sartin Methodology.
Stay cool and hope you are doing great!
