Have you noticed that when LIV members face the press that they're questioned about Saudi money and not golf?
Why aren't American horse trainers and owners and jockeys confronted about Saudi money when they participate in the Saudi Cup?
I guess virtue signaling applies to some sports and not others?

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Donald Sterling was a known racist his entire tenure as an NBA owner. So much so that the league finally forced him to sell his team. Yet from the early 80’s to the mid 2010’s, no one interviewed his players and asked how they could cash their paychecks knowing they came from such a horrible man.

I actually read that the tournament in Oregon had a decent crowd. Most of the press is against LIV Golf, and they will slant it in that direction.

I'm taking this from the official LIV twitter. But still, it seems like a good time.

I watched the event online. They said day 3 was sold out, but that doesn't mean the spectators were from the Portland area.
I was impressed with the beauty and challenge of this course. It is PGA worthy.

Moreover about 30%-40% of entrants in a PGA event do not make the cut and receive nothing. LIV has no cut line. You could shoot 3 x 100 and get the $120,000 minimum.
This is their life's work and why would you play for a winner's share of $1.25M when someone else is offering you $4M? A tie for third gets you $1.25M at an LIV event. Sure, you lose your sponsors, which may only be temporary. And there will be sponsors come along without ties to the PGA.

I played a round at the LIV venue, Pumpkin Ridge, back in 2014 for a company/customer appreciation outing, scramble format. One of the nicest courses I've ever played, and by far the clubhouse was the most impressive I've ever seen. Huge stone and timber building, worthy of national park status.
My teammates were some customers from a hospital down in Eugene. My golfing skills aren't so good, and we finished well "out of the money", though one of the customers I played with won a nice gift in the random prize drawing after it was all over. Very good time. I still have the wooden bag tag with my name burned on it that the course provided.
Another team had a customer who drank just a wee bit too much, and thought it would be a good idea to see he could do a donut in his golf cart - on one of the greens! He lost control, and the cart ended up in a pond, but not before doing quite a bit of damage to the green. There was a bit of controversy over who would pay for the damages, but if memory serves our company was off the hook because it was course personnel serving drinks every three holes. Free drinks included in the package, IIRC.
Needless to say we had to reserve tee times at a different course for the outing the following year. I can't recall where we played, but it was a huge step down in class, so to speak.
