the purses these days are being taken down by bigger outfits, my guess is that 80% of the purses are going to 10% of the trainer's. it forces the little guy out of the ballgame and now the big boys can run bad horses and pick up big purses.

the same thing happened with CVS. they came in and undercut all the little drugstores and knocked them out of the game, now you need a brinks truck to walk into CVS.

How could HANA be held in any way responsible for this takeout increase? Every day in the real world, businesses decide to raise their prices on their customers. If the customers show their discontent by abandoning these stores...then a message is sent out that the customers are a force to be reckoned with. If the customers take no action, and business continues as usual for these outfits...then another sort of message is sent...and the price-increases become more widespread, as a result.

HANA hasn't the power to dictate to the horseplayers what they should do. When HANA recommends a boycott...the HORSEPLAYERS are the ones who determine how successful such a boycott can be. The fault lies not with HANA...but with OURSELVES.

Yeah, I'm not too sure why this keeps coming back to being a failure of HANA and not of the bettors themselves, the management, the almighty dollar, long lunches, and just about everything else first.

There was no credible threat the last few years. They took a leadership role when they formed the organization and the leadership the last few years beginning with the prez has been weak at best. He should resign and they should find someone with conviction and resolve to lead Horseplayers.

Personally I have literally fought this fight EVERY day for seven years. All the work everyone has done including HANA just went up in smoke. I am the biggest fool of all right now for wasting my time.

What should the Prez be doing? Tweeting about how awful it is? Calling for another boycott immediately?

In what way could HANA have prevented this?

More than likely...the fool was the author of the above tweet.

So what is there function or mission statement? If they want to put out a monthly newsletter (which is the best I've ever seen) and promote mickey mouse tracks then should change the mission statement.

You have no idea what I do or don't do. I walk the walk on a daily basis. I'm making my statements based on my personal interaction with him. This is a failure of leadership.

HANA board member Dean Towers wrote the article. Who's the fool?

I don't know what it is. I find that mission statements are generally either a pipe dream or complete feel-good gibberish so I rarely look.

I'm not trying to defend HANA. I'm trying to get you to explain what exactly could have been done and how they are failing horseplayers. I appreciate HANA, and I don't mean to offend them, but hasn't it always been a bit of a toothless tiger?

You are very sensitive for someone on the offensive. Sorry, I now don't know what you are talking about at all.

I provided a link to another thread earlier in this thread. Failure to stand up to Ca earlier in the year indirectly led to this. There is no stopping anyone from jacking up take at there will now.
