May 28th 1998! I played a $4 pick 6 ticket at Hollywood Park. I singled the #5 in the 5th race at 20-1 ML, a filly named Maria Michele. She goes gate to wire and wins by a head to pay $38.60. I hit the pick 6 that day with 1 of only 2 winning tickets. The pick 6 paid $42,769.40. That's the least amount of money I’ve bet with the biggest return I’ve ever gotten.

Raven's Pass /Henrythenavigator come to mind from the polytrack BC Classic. I had those two and the more obvious Curlin 'keyed'.

Animal Kingdom comes to mind.

Maximus Mischief was good to me this year, but for betting against, rather than on.

Dialed In paid only $7.80 in the Florida Derby, and I don't even know if I would like him from my perspective today, but at the time I was 'on tilt' and made a win wager that was large relative to my bankroll... I stayed on that prudent investment train, and used the winnings for a party and a crocodile belt/shoes. (still have the belt/shoes)...

Paba , at 2yo filly maiden winner at LA County fairgrounds. she went wire to wire payed 17.60 to win in her first start from the 1 post. Owned her with 4 others and she was our first starter. We bought her from a 2yo in training sale at Hollywood park. We were flying high that day.

April 29, 2017 opening night at CD, in the last race Endless Thyme pd 14.20 to win, 59.60 for the exacta, 1330.60 for the tri, 31.20 for the dd, and 448.20 for the p3.

I had all of that for more than $2 on each of these.

Best horse all time for my wallet never "won" for me, but Gunnevera in 2018 rounded out several tri's that paid well (Pegasus and BC Classic, specifically).

Accelerate winning the 2018 BC Classic also closed out several P3 and P4 tickets that resulted in my biggest winning day on record.

Some local / regional Florida horses who have fattened the wallet over the years and whom I won't forget are TwoCubanBrothers and Phish Fan.

Too many to recall as I no longer look at the names, only the records and saddle cloth numbers...Aids in being continually OBJECTIVE as to their chances

Because the only races I seriously bet are maidens and N2Ls, I've made some very nice scores on horses none of us would remember due to their lack of accomplishments. For the past 15 years my philosophy has been 4-1 pays $10 in this M$20K same as it does in the Kentucky Derby, and since I've had a lot better results handicapping the "cheapies" rather than the high profile races, that's where I've made my biggest scores. I can't even remember most of them because a lot of these horses never won another race the rest of their lives, but I did make a nice score on a horse named Patriots Rule when he won a Starter Allowance for N2L at 19-1 before he went on to win numerous California statebred stakes.

Smarty Jones.

His Kentucky Derby win brought me my biggest score to date...and it was the only time when, oblivious to my surroundings, I jumped on the table and loudly proclaimed that I was the "King of the World".

Jan. 25 1989 GGF. I made my first bet as a 'full timer". Horse won as 2.20 favorite but had the exacta ($5 in those days) multiple times and was a bit over $3000 up in my new career.

When I decided to take a shot at this game I called the late Ron Cox. I had subscribed to his product, he became my mentor. Later I was co-editor of the Northern California Track Record.

I'm getting to the horse.

Fast forward...

May. 20 1989 GGF. King Glorious is in for a stakes to prep, If I recall correctly for The Haskell. There is a carry-over. Chris McCarron is up to ride King Glorious for Jerry Hollendorfer. King Glorious is odds on and gets beat. I knew the auditor at GGF and if the King would have won the Pick 6 would have paid out.

Double carry-over going into Sunday May 21 1989. Ron and I handicap the card starting at 2:30AM. We have the only ticket for over 200K. This was a group ticket but my take doubled my growing bank roll as a "full timer"

The name of the horse that I keyed as my first "Pro" bet... Avenging Force.

The name of the horse that took down KG and allowed the P6 the next day... Avenging Force.

There have been hits since. However, no horse was more important to me.

Single horse for me has to be Giacomo. Had him in 2 futures pools and we all know what he did in the Derby. $$$
