Corniche

He still hasn't hit the workout tab. I'm going to assume something is wrong and he's off the Derby trail. Last I heard was "We're not rushing him", but that was close to a month ago.

Maybe they think the Derby is in September?

Do they have a training track at WinStar Farm?

Maybe it's going to be a Bellamy Road-type situation.

Certainly Elliot Walden is no stranger to losing Triple Crown races...

The connections have probably seen all the runbacks from the Juvenile.

Is it worse than the Storm The Court or Action This Day Juveniles yet?

I don't know how to accurately judge these things, but it isn't pretty. Pinehurst is the first to run back and win, and he had to go to the desert to beat up on some slugs to get one.

On my figures it was a below average Juvenile but not what I would call historically bad.

These are not the ratings of the winner. They are an "automated" computer rating that looks at the top few finishers and what they had accomplished to date relative to the typical BC Juvenile "field".

They aren't a projection of how the horses are likely to develop.

They don't get adjusted after horses come back later.

The don't look at any speed figures.

It's just rough snapshot I use as starting point for my analysis that I then alter subjectively after I review a race manually.

Average is around 101.

2021 - 98.83
2020 - 102.76 (Essential Quality; Hot Rod Charlie; Keep me in Mind)
2019 - 95.55 (Storm the Court. Anneau d'Or; Wrecking Crew)
2018 - 99.52
2017 - 101.84
2016 - 103.55 (Classic Empire; Not This Time; Practical Joke)
2015 - 103.39 (Nyquist; Swipe; Brody's Cause)
2014 - 101.3
