Trip to Churchill

Thought I would post a few pics from the BC trip. Got to go to the backside and meet Ian Wilkes, and Carl Nafzger. Both great guys, and Carl was truly a great person. Through a weird connection, my dad knew a guy who used to work where he did and retired a very wealthy man. My dad talked to his sister and asked what he was up to now. She said he is training, and breeding horses in KY now. So I was able to get in contact with him and he really hooked us up while we were there. Got to meet Ian, and Carl, who train at his facilities, and go to the backside. Also spent some time in Carl's barn. Pretty cool so see where all the work really goes on.

Here are some pics from the trip

Entry to Carl's barn.

Inside of the barn - Guam Typhoon was in there

On the backside Thursday morning. Was walking around all the barns and looked closely to see who this colt was. He was standing all by himself with his groom. Nobody around, so I didn't think he would be a bigtime colt. Happened to be Lookin at Lucky just hanging out.

Mike Smith on the backside watching Z gallop down the backstretch.

Went to the Kentucky Derby Musuem on Sunday. Was a very cool place, and the IMAX video was great to see there. Took a ride on this horse also. I am 6'2" and no way in hell could I do this. Good thing this horse was incredibly slow.

Great shots. Thanks for sharing.

Damn, Nafzger's barn looks more like a stud farm barn than a racetrack barn in terms of clean and shiny...lol

one of the nicer one's I've seen...
