You are not a messenger. You are delusional.

If God made us in his image and he is loving and good they we must be the same intrinsically. This is evidenced from all newborns dependency on love, not hate or evil.

Jesus cannot tell us to love our enemies and at the same time tell us we don't even love ourselves because our hearts are evil.

God cannot tell us to love our neighbor as ourselves if our hearts are evil.

Love comes from the heart and if our hearts are evil there can be no love for friends or enemies.

Of course Jesus can. Man is morally obligated to love as God loves. But this doesn't mean that man in his sinful nature has that capability inherently. And to be made in God's image doesn't mean that we are divine in our essence! It simply means that we're intelligent, moral, personal beings as he is. Being made in his image is what separates us from the animals.

You want to boast about man's supposed moral goodness, yet you overlook the obvious: If man is inherently good, then would God have to give this his people a new heart and the Holy Spirit? Iif man is inherently good, then why did Jesus tell Nicodemus that he must be born again if he hopes to see the kingdom of heaven? And if man is inherently good, then why did Jesus tell us that no one but God alone is good? And if man is inherently good, why did Jesus teach that man is evil in his essence?

Matt 7:11
11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
NASB

And,

Matt 12:34
34 "You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.
NASB

Evil is as Evil does! Jesus in both cases is making a very clear statement about the essence of man -- YOU BEING EVIL!

The entire tenor of scripture agrees Jesus. And he's a lot smarter, wiser and righteous than you are.

None of this answers the contradictions I just laid out.

How can God or Jesus tell us to love our neighbors and enemies while at the same time declaring we are evil which means we are incapable of love and therefore incapable of fulfilling his request to love our neighbors or enemies.

You're not paying attention. How God or Jesus can command us to love is because we're morally obligated. There is no contradiction here. We could ask the exact same question about how God could make a law covenant with Israel (Law of Moses) when he knew the Israelites would not be able to keep covenant with him?

The Law, in part, was given to reveal God's holy and righteous character, to show us just how utterly sinful we are, and to show us how totally incapable we are of rendering perfect obedience to him, which he requires. In other words, it was given to Israel as a "tutor" to lead them to seek God forgiveness and salvation through Christ. And so it is with everyone in the world, since we're all obligated to obey God's absolute law, i.e. law apart from a covenant.

Gal 3:23-24
23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith.
NASB

I am trying to understand your logic. But your explanation still does not explain how God can declare us evil hearted and simultaneously expect us to love thy neighbor. What you reference above is ignorance of God, not "evil hearts" which is much, much stronger.

Going by your logic, how can God declare us evil and give us his holy law and expect us to keep it? And the two greatest commandments are actually in the Law of Moses! Jesus didn't just make it up by pulling them out of thin air.

Also, the Law is not intended for good people! Common sense should tell you this. God's law, like man's laws. are also intended to keep a reign on evil people! Scripture bears this truth out also.

1 Tim 1:8-10
8 But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching...
NASB

Just because man is sinful by nature (i.e. has an evil heart) does not mean that he's incapable of any love. (Don't forget: The Doctrine of Total Depravity does not mean that we evil as we can be, only that all our faculties are corrupted by sin.) What it does mean, however, is that fallen man is incapable of the kind of love required by God's revealed will in the scriptures. Jesus makes this truth crystal-clear also. Note his words in this passage:

Matt 5:44-48
44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you 45 in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gatherers do the same? 47 "And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 "Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
NASB

Tax-gathers and Gentiles -- can't get much lower on the Jewish cultural pole than that! Jewish tax-gatherers were considered to be turncoats, traitors and greedy, opportunistic profiteers by religious Jews since they were employed by Rome to collect taxes from their countrymen. And not only did Rome give them a percentage of what they collected but the arrangement tempted most of them to be dishonest as the day is long by collecting more taxes than necessary, with them pocketing that extra change as well! Tax-collecting was a very lucrative business conducted by dishonest people.

And Gentiles? Nothing lower on the cultural totem pole either -- perhaps with the exception of a Samaritan. But Jesus' point in both cases is that these two groups were largely comprised of unbelievers! So, he's telling Jews that even unbelievers love -- but not like they're supposed to! Far from it. From being perfect the way their Creator is. They were so far away from God's perfect ideal that Jesus warns the Jews to not be like them because what reward will they have if they adopt the worldly standard of sinners?

No that's not the question. The question is how can evil love? It can't. That's it's trademark. God says we're evil according to you. OK, if I'm evil I don't give a f**k about anything, especially anyone telling me what to do, and especially anything good.

Also "evil" is demonic. That means their boss is that other guy. That is a powerful antithesis. And you expect all these "evil possessed hearts" to just politely turn around to the light and become loving, when they already have a powerful ally in Mr. Darkness. This is what makes no sense in your literal translation of the human race as possessing evil hearts. It is insane.

You would need to have an exorcism on each person with and "evil" heart. That is the power of an evil heart. You are not aware of this? Evil is the strongest entity around , and there is only one power stronger and that is love. So you can't talk out of your ass when it comes to evil. Evil possesses its victims. You are grossly underestimating it or more correctly you are taking the word "evil" too literally because it is not as simple as talking to an Evil heart. They will drive you off the cliff before you get anywhere with them.

You treat or regard evil as being something. This is a fundamentally wrong-headed idea. Evil is not a thing per se! Quite the contrary. As discussed often in the past, evil is the absence or deprivation of a something. To be more to the point, evil is the absence of good. Evil is like darkness, which is the absence of light, etc.

Now, let's explore a little more deeply the biblical parallel between Evil and Darkness.

Jesus taught that only God alone is Good (Mk 10:18). John taught that God is light and that in Him there is no darkness at all (1Jn 1:5). Conversely, scripture everywhere teaches that man is evil and is sinful by nature. Paul also taught, not coincidentally, that fallen man is darkness but that born again believers are light in the Lord (Eph 5:8). Note carefully Paul did not say that Ephesian believers before their conversion were formerly "in the darkness" -- but that they themselves, spiritually, were darkness. Also, remember what Paul said about the sinful nature -- that there is NO GOOD THING in that kind of nature. Therefore, that kind of nature can only be evil. Can only be sinful. Can only be darkness. Also, don't miss how in the very next verse in the Ephesians passage that the fruit of the light consists in all GOODNESS and righteousness and truth. Only born again Christians, by God's sovereign grace, have been rescued from the devil's dominion of darkness and brought into Christ's kingdom of light (Col 1:12).

Further, you are assuming that if man is truly evil, then every human being on this planet would be as wicked as the demons in hell. And this isn't true either. And it isn't because God both directly and indirectly restrains evil in this world. For example, God after the Flood, instituted human government for this very purpose. And Paul confirms this for us in Romans 12 as to why God instituted government. Also, God directly by his common grace, operating through the Holy Spirit, restrains the extent, qualitatively, of evil in this world (2Thes 2:6-7). (While this latter passage is alluding to the antichrist and the power behind him, who is Satan -- nonetheless this restraining, in principle, extends to the sphere of all human activity.) Further proof of this truth can be seen in the Holy Spirit's general ministry in this world since Pentecost, which is to convict the world, generally, of sin, righteousness and judgment (Jn 16:8). (Thirdly, I believe the above Thessalonian passage is also alluding to the release of Satan from his "abyss" where Christ has "bound" him for a "1,000 years", at which time the world will turn exceedingly wicked. And more evidence that God directly restrains evil in this can be seen in many passages wherein it is taught that God limits the extent of the devil's power. The temptations of Job are great examples of this.

Next, love doesn't have a mind or will of its own. Love is not a personal entity. It is an attribute. It is a virtue. God and God alone can defeat evil. And he will ultimately through his Son Jesus Christ at the Second Coming.

Then you conflate evil with demonic possession. While all demonically possessed people are evil, not all evil people are demonically possessed. We can't help but notice the highly energized demonic activity during Christ's day in the Gospels, but that kind of activity has been greatly checked since then, mainly because Christ "bound" the "strong man" (Mk 3:27) during his ministry. In fact, Jesus told his disciples that he beheld Satan falling like lightning from heaven (Lk 10:18) -- no doubt into the abyss where he will stay "bound" for "1,000 years". Understand this, though: I'm not saying nor is scripture saying that the world has been rid of Satan since Christ's first advent -- only that his power has been greatly curtailed for the purpose of letting the gospel of Christ spread throughout the entire world to all the nations in (Rev 20:3).

And, NO, NO, NO -- evil human beings -- sin-loving human beings LOVE the DARKNESS and will not come to the Light, according to Jesus (Jn 3:19), so neither I expect sinful man to "politely turn around to the light and become loving", nor does scripture teach this. And you know this. Why do you bring this red herring into the discussion? God must do something TO sinners before they turn to the Light and repent of their sins. They must be given a new heart. They must be given the gift of the Holy Spirit. They must be given the gift of faith. They must be born again. You insist on leaving God out of the equation of the pitiful, pathetic, wretched, helpless plight of sinners. You are just like Nicodemus. When Jesus told him that he must be born again, Nicodemus wondered how HE was going to accomplish that great feat! How can a man be be born when his is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he? (Jn 3:4).

What is truly "insane" (since you brought it up) is your obstinate refusal to recognize your own helplessness and to humbly turn to God and beg him to show you the truth of the gospel in your inner man. You insist on believing that you're good enough to do something to please God. If you turn to him with a broken and contrite heart, he will hear you and answer you.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” - Richard Dawkins – The God Delusion

But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, then she shall be free and shall conceive children. This is the law in cases of jealousy, when a wife, though under her husband’s authority, goes astray and defiles herself, or when the spirit of jealousy comes upon a man and he is jealous of his wife; then he shall set the woman before the Lord, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. If she marries after she makes a vow or after her lips utter a rash promise by which she obligates herself and...her husband forbids her when he hears about it, he nullifies the vow that obligates her...These are the regulations the Lord gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter still living at home. NIV

And what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord, and he slew him also. RSV

And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan. And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them. Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine...Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, the Assyrians, for whom she lusted. They stripped her naked...Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister...Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will stir up your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust...They will cut off your noses and your ears, and those of you who are left will fall by the sword...They will also strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry...They will leave you stark naked, and the shame of your prostitution will be exposed...Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Since you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution...The mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses. So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not imitate you...Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord. NIV

I'm only cutting and pasting the scripture which I get from biblegateway.com . I use Apple Dictation (voice recognition) for most of the rest. The time consuming part is inserting the BB code for emphasis.

I'm 1/3 of the way through the project. Enjoy.

Sorry, but that is NOT the definition of Evil. EVIL IS an entity. Darkness is Not an entity. It is a condition.

It's clear I have won this argument because you are trying to change the meaning of "Evil" as used in the Bible to something milder, like "darkness". Not buying your lame excuse. Have a nice day.

On the bright side of things, you've induced some people to spend more time reading the Bible.
