How does Trump hold the Saudi's accountable and not punish us in the process?

About as tricky a situation as there is. Good luck to him.

I don't see any good coming from cancelling arms deals.

Nobody's canceling anything at this point.

SA and Turkey will work it out.

Not our problem.

Turkey was very eager to expose this and I trust them less than the Saudi's. I wish it wasn't our problem but it is and D.T. is gonna have to make a call.

Perhaps he'll absolve the Saudis of wrongdoing by shifting the blame where it very likely belongs -- on Obama's bosom buddies the Muslim Brotherhood who would not be able to tolerate western civilization coming to Saudi Arabia and upsetting their beloved and sacred Wahabi apple cart. What better way to derail East-West relations, fervently pursued by a forward-thinking Saudi prince, than a little body dismemberment of a journalist?

Trump isn't fooled by this. He knows what the real skinny is.

What do you mean?

We're the United States.

You walk in and tell them that unfortunately they're busted and these are the new rules for awhile. In the meantime we trust that the spice will continue to flow. If they don't like the new rules or the spice stops flowing they will get a new set of rules worse than the first.

Its pretty simple.

I can't answer that one, the ugly truth is that the CIA, Mossad, KGB, MI6, FIS, GID, and others I missed have all done such and worse. What is so problematic is how sloppy the Saudi's were. They will get a pass because we not only need them dealing with Iran, and when the time comes Saudi Air Space will be essential.

Not going to happen, the story is a very visceral fight. A general will fall on his sword and admit to the killing.

I don't think we need the airspace but the problem is you're right you can't be that sloppy and expect to have no consequences.

They help us with containing Iran but lets be honest... even if we put them in timeout... they'd still help us with Iran.

Not only will we use Saudi airspace but launch from Saudi soil and refuel there. Yes this is an ugly sloppy event, we have to allow it to blow over. Look for a major "wag the dog" soon.

This sound feasible. And logical next step. Where is the so called tape?

Both Iraq and Afghanistan are closer.

Its all rather moot... we should just let the two of them fight it out anyway and hope they both lose.

The O.P.'s question is a tough one...if we do what we should do...what would happen if gas was $5 a gallon or more...our economy would be in very bad shape rather quickly...

Don't know the answer...think that's why Trump is stalling....he doesn't either...

Guess it will follow the Star Track...Spock..."good of the many outweigh the good of the few...or in this case...one"....
