Here are the two headline news stories in the 11/11/2003 Pulse Newletter published by ISSCR (International Society For Stem Cell Research).
EUROPEAN UNION. On Tuesday, Nov. 4, two committees of the European Parliament voted in favor of human embryonic stem cell research. Proposed amendments seeking to ban human ES cell research were defeated. The EU Industry Committee voted to allow the research to be financed from the EU's Sixth Framework Program budget.
UNITED NATIONS VOTE ON CLONING POSTPONED. On Thursday, Nov. 6, the UN General Assembly's legal committee adopted--by a vote of 80 to 79 votes with 15 abstentions--a motion to defer drafting a ban on human cloning until 2005. The delay was proposed by Iran on behalf of the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference.
Both the BBC and CNNi recently covered an international stem cell research symposium in Tehran. Scientists from Europe acknowledged that both Pakistan and Iran have launched world-class biogenetic research programs. And then there's China.
How will Bush/Kerry be remembered when 600-pound, 12-foot-tall, foreign tourists walk right down the streets of Crawford or Lowell like Bulldog Drummond? (from the Coasters... Searchin').

babyshit numbers in comparison to other wars. I don't discount the americans or the iraqi casualties. But I don't provide them any further value than any of our other wars. And in the grand scheme.........babyshit numbers........
In comparison there are around 15 thousand murders in the U.S. a year. thousands more seriously injured in violent crime........we could go on in iraq at the same level for the next 15 years and it wouldn't equal one year here in the U.S.
In California there were 1842 murders in the year 2002. I don't see you getting so worked up over that? The State of California is supposed to be about the size of Iraq. Sheer madness and all? Get your butt out to California and start screaming about the murder rate....................and BTW, I didn't hear about one person being fed into a wood chipper in California in 2002. But it did happen in Iraq...........not anymore..............thanks to those who have liberated that country.

Derek, we're losing stem cell research? What are you drinking or smoking? Bush is the ONLY President to ever spend a dime on stem cell research and funding for stem cell research outside the scope of the Bush parameters can still be dfunded privately.
