Based solely on the results charts I've perused over the years, the Turfway synthetic track seems to be a true synthesis: a forgiving all-weather surface that turf horses handle yet demanding enough for brilliant horses to demonstrate superiority with dirt-like margins of victory. I reckon the nebula-like kick back I see on race replays has something to do with that.
