7/7/1977

Was talking with a friend today and we were exchanging strange occurrences at the racetrack when I recalled one of those incidents that should stay with a person for a lifetime. I just had to share it here with you all.

At the Meadows back in July of 1977 on the 7th of the month, I bet on the #7 mare in the 7th race.

As luck would have it, Miss PeggyAnn Wick (is how I recall the Jerry Ross Sr's mare's name) started from the 7th post in race 7.

The 7's lined up on this date loaded with 7's. Think she went off at 9/1 or around there. They didn't know that she was with child as you couldn't run mares in foal in claiming races.

As soon as the 7th race was posted official, lightning bolt struck the toteboard and fried the system and the rest of the card was cancelled.
