our male cat ran away almost exactly 1 year ago when we moved houses, he freaked out at the new place and disappeared the very first night. He was always neurotic and deathly afraid of other people, but he was a really, really good cat. We spent a couple weeks calling for him around the neighborhood, put up signs, nothing. Had to mentally write him off.
This morning we found him sitting in the neighbors driveway, right next door. He used to weigh 12 lbs, now he weighs 4. He was about the worst looking, sickliest cat you've ever seen, just really sad to see. He'll spend a few days at the vet, but just checked on him and he's already feeling better, I can tell. Hopefully no long term damage.
There is no way in this neighborhood with this many cats around and people feeding them he should look like that. I can only guess he wasn't here the whole time.
I wonder where his travels took him too, I'm sure he's got some stories to tell.

Outrageous. Glad to hear the dude is back.
I lost one for about 2 weeks when I had a joint up in Lake Arrowhead. She lost a pile of weight and was found after an old lady up the street heard her crying in a tree.

Cool, Chick. Glad he is ok.
One of mine has been gone for over a week.
You gave me some hope!

yep, cats are pretty amazing. I hope yours turns up soon Tom!
This guy has always been my favorite cat of all-time, his name is Johnny Cash (the man in black). People make fun, but that is a damn cool name if you're a cat.

Great story of hope, Chickenhead!
Hope it works out a lot sooner on your end, Tom.

60.
Oh, the cat!
I'm guessing about 5. Three of them were born under my deck and I took them in. One died a couple years ago, one still here. I just got them into the house last year.

Awwww you have a big heart and I hope the Cat returns soon !
Years back mine would stroll off for adventures and bring me back presents when we lived in a wooded area. They were not exactly the presents anyone
wants at there doorstep.
Chickenhead , so glad your Cat is back and wishing him well!!

We lost our cat of 17 years a couple of months ago. We miss her. I still look for her running around the house.
Off to visit relatives today. Being a tourist in Hollywood tomorrow and more relatives on Sunday.

Chickie, I'm glad Johnny Cash is back home; a little skinny, yes, but safe and sound.
You've got only two explanations here.
1. He didn't like the new digs, decided, "I'm gone." After a year, figured "what the hell, reckon I'll go on back home. This life on the street business ain't gettin' it. They'll be glad to see me, they'll take me back."
2. You and Johnny Cash, both resident Californians, along with Johnny being smart as he is--how far are y'all from Folsom prison? Remember Folsom's one of Johnny's favorite venues?
Cats always know who loves 'em, who 'preciates their talent. 'Specially ones uniquely named Johnny Cash.

A Thread about Nothing
chickenhead, that is an amazing tale with a great ending. Cats and their stories never cease to amaze me. The cat pictured in my avatar is a rescued stray who lived out of a dumpster with a bunch of others behind a nursing home on my pharmacy delivery route. He was the only one that would come up to me as a kitten when I would feed the strays there. One night, he jumped into my van, and the rest, as they say, is history. His name is "Dude."
