AMC offering 15-cent movies on Aug. 20
https://ktar.com/story/3484696/amc-t...MVFTi4N1lv6zSY
"AMC Theatres, the nation’s largest movie theater chain, will reopen in the U.S. on Aug. 20 with retro ticket prices of 15 cents per movie."
Would you go if one opened nearby? "About a sixth" of its locations will open. Even for an old movie, 15 cents is a great deal for the theater experience.

I would go if I really wanted to. Not sure I do, have plenty of movies to watch. But maybe. I saw Ghostbusters when it first came out in the theater, hot humid summer day, classic movie. No 'Rona fears for me but the comments show many afraid.

15 cents for the movie and 12 dollars for the popcorn!
They can re-name it "pop-corona".

Cargo shorts with deep pockets. And an oversized T-shirt.
Amazing what you can fit in there.

the lockdown in many states closed theaters once again. I doubt if AMC will make it unless they go through a bankruptcy, new leases in facilities, and good movies once again.
Warner Brothers have decided to open their movies on HBO MAX streaming the same time they open in theaters instead of the usual lag time. All the streaming services will really cut down in theater showings, satellite/cable, DVD sales, and actor salaries

I misread the thread title:
-thought it said "AOC offering 15-cent movies on Aug. 20"
After blowing that Amazon deal...it's the least she can do. I would also demand Milk Duds to sweeten the deal.

Not really. It’s not personal. The movie industry needs a new business model. Theaters and stars will be the first to feel the pain.

As long as they understand they need to change their production model as well. They will not be able to make any more $100 million+ films unless subsidized by China.
Within 10 years, animation and CGI may get good enough they do not need big production crews, actors or film on locations.
