It was idiotic to call the timeout, however, there was only five seconds left on the play clock. They would have snapped it at one but they would NOT have taken a knee on third down with the Chargers having two timeouts left. The Raiders were going to run the ball and it was the Chargers who couldn't stop the third down.
On a different note, how about the Rams-49ers game. Typical NFL crap. The Rams have the ball with just under two minutes to go up seven with the 49ers having all three time outs. It is the same routine every time. Three runs up the middle, three time outs used and then punt. The 49ers got the ball back, the Rams went into a sort of prevent defense, the 49ers march down the field and score a TD. This plays out over and over. That is why I love college football. Teams will go for the win and throw the ball to make the first down instead of relying on the defense to win the game.
