future pools

The first pool is Nov 27-29 and will contain the usual 23 betting choices plus the field. The second pool I think is the first week in Feb.

I can't wait to see what the odds are for the field. I think it's an overlay at even money.

I'm going to take it for granted you know of the 1, 4, 16, 17, and 20 and add that the 5,8,9,10,11,13,14,15, and 18 are scheduled to run in races on Saturday so you can at least get a feel for most of the field. As with last year, if you really don't have a "love" for any of these it is best to pass the first pool. The only one I have a liking to right now is Carpe Diem but won't take anything less than 20-1. Bris has the past performances if you care to take a look. I found them through Churchill Downs site in the futures section. Haven't seen any others posted yet. Waiting for something from DRF and Chef de Race (dosage) before pushing any buttons. Also, with the pool open thru Sunday we can view Saturday's races first.

In the first pool, I'd say there is no horse in any year that would be worth a bet at less than 50-1.

20-1 is the approximately correct odds that the horse you like will run in the derby.

Sure...

At least 50-1 and still this is low...

I had this conversation with my friend Emd4Me today at the track and we both concluded that the field at 3-5, looks like a huge overlay albeit the waiting time does not make it attractive by any means...

I find it insane that there will be people betting a horse in the future pool at odds so low as 15-1 !!

I play the futures more as a personal challenge to myself and have never wagered over $20 total for all pools combined. I have hit several, including Giacomo so it owes me nothing. My true Derby wagering is done on the first Friday, so I can play the Oaks/Derby double and the first Saturday in May.
