Congrats to Vic Stauffer for Last Call
Perhaps this has been posted elsewhere on PA, I looked but did not see it. Sorry if this was a repost.
Thanks to Vic Stauffer for a "memorialized" last race call at Hollywood tonight.
Sincerely,
Dave Schwartz

I tend to be a traditionalist when it comes to race calls; I generally prefer a plain vanilla call to Durkin's and Denman's theatrics. But I think Stauffer's call was extremely good, and I actually doubt that any announcer in America could have done a better job with it.

With 70 yards to go, i was thinking the word "whacker" might find its way into the call...but it did not.
When Vic made the "Earthquake call" he said "better make this my greatest racecall" when they came down the stretch.
Little did he know, 8 and a half years later (god, its been THAT long?) this would be his greatest racecall.
Wherever Vic is sitting on the list of talented racecallers in America, he just moved himself up to a more higher standing with this call. If he wasnt there already, he put himself in the short list of elite announcers in the game today, the sport is lucky to have him.

Hard to be memorable in the middle of a large field and a pretty damn good horse race too
He got it done.

Great race call Vic. I too wish the word whacker had made it in there given the finish of that race - my best memories of HP are when Vic brought that term out.

I cried. I literally just happened to put it on TVG with 2 MTP because there was nothing else on. I wasn't even aware Hollywood was closing. That call was incredible. I hope they replay the TVG segment so I can DVR it.

Vic:
You are an absolute class act sir. I have always enjoyed listening to your race calls, and, I am ecstatic that it was you at Hollywood Park for that last day of racing at the historic Hollywood Park.
All the BEST!

I thought it was a great call and I hope to hear Vic's voice again soon.
In the interim, it would be good to see him doing analysis on TVG again, his handicapping insights were interesting.

In case you are like me and planned on watching it all evening and then got all distracted by American Greed and forgot to flip back until the 8th at Los Al...
